Dr. Gary T. Hieronimus, DC, Clinic Director
   Dr. Gary Hieronimus completed his undergraduate studies at Allegheny Community College in Pittsburgh, Pa., and Palmer Junior College in Davenport, Iowa. He received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1969. Dr. Hieronimus constantly strives to improve and update his knowledge in the field of chiropractic and related studies. He is always strengthening his understanding of diagnosis and treatment of spine and joint disorders by reading and attending post-graduate seminars.
    Dr. Hieronimus’ love of chiropractic and genuine concern for others are two qualities that impress those who know him well. He is a Certified Chiropractic Rehabilitation Doctor and a Certified Applied Clinical Nutritionist. He currently resides in Coraopolis with his wife and daughter.
 
 
 

Joseph F. Hakas, MD, Medical Director
Dr. Hakas earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. A Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice, he is a member of the American Medical Association and the Pennsylvania Medical Society. Dr. Hakas served as a physician in the J&L Steel Occupational Medicine Department and as chairman of the Family Practice Department of UPMC South Side Hospital. Prior to joining Scott Medical Center, he served as the medical director for Hakas Family Practice. He has served on numerous committees for healthcare and professional organizations and is currently the chairman of the South Hills branch of the Allegheny County Medical Society.

 

 
 
 
 

Khalid M. Malik, MD, Physician
Dr. Malik earned his undergraduate degree from T.I. College in Pakistan and his medical degree from the University Punjab Medical School, Pakistan. A licensed physician and surgeon, Dr. Malik completed an externship in surgery at Nishtar Hospital in Pakistan. He then completed residencies in internal medicine at Veteran Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and at St. Francis Health System in Pittsburgh. Before joining Scott Medical Center, Dr. Malik served on the utilization and patient safety committees at ACM Hospital.

 
 
 
  Dr. Darin L. Shriver, DC, Doctor of Chiropractic
    Dr. Darin L. Shriver received his bachelor’s degree at West Virginia Wesleyan College and received his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas, in 2007. He completed his internship with the Costa Rican Olympic Committee Clinic in Coronado, Costa Rica, and is conversant in Spanish in a clinic setting.
    Dr. Shriver has a special interest in nutrition and in functional neurology and has complete over 150 hours of coursework toward certification as a Chiropractic Neurologist. This background allows Dr. Shriver to treat a variety of conditions related to the nervous system and total body health and well being, naturally.

 
 
 
 

Dr. Vincent C. Gross, DC, Doctor of Chiropractic
Dr. Gross completed pre-graduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh and Old Dominion University and then earned Bachelor of Science and doctor of chiropractic degrees from Palmer College, Davenport, Iowa.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Dr. Gross is especially interested in physiotherapy and is certified as a physiotherapist by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners. He has completed special training in lumbar flexion distraction, sacral occipital techniques and in Activator and Atlas Orthogonal techniques, which are approaches that use the body’s natural healing power to restore structure and function. Dr. Gross brings more than a decade of
professional experience to Scott Medical Center.

 
 
 
 

Alicia F. Abate, Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
Ms. Abate earned her nursing diploma at Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing and then completed her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at Waynesburg College. Ms. Abate went on to earn a master’s degree in nursing administration and a master’s in business administration at Waynesburg College before earning certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner at West Virginia University.

Ms. Abate is an experienced oncology/medical-surgical nurse and is especially interested in providing holistic health care. She also is interested in education, both for professionals and patients; she has served as a clinical nursing instructor at Community College of Allegheny County, a Clinical Education Specialist for West Penn Allegheny Health System and is a faculty member at the Community College of Beaver County. As a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner, Ms. Abate uses her teaching skills and clinical expertise to help identify what patients need and teach patients how to be healthier.

 
 
 
 

Sarah Kline, Family Nurse Practitioner
Ms. Kline earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at Biola University in California and her Master of Science degree in nursing from Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, Washington.

Ms. Kline has extensive clinical experience in both home health care and in general and specialty clinics. She is especially interested in family practice and in managing chronic conditions and diseases. She has volunteered in nursing and health clinics servicing the homeless, the poor and the underserved. Ms. Kline enjoys working as part of a holistic health care team and using her clinical skills to help patients learn how to live healthier, happier lives.

 
 
 
 

Lisa R. Holden, Licensed Physical Therapist
Ms. Holden’s education includes an associate’s degree, physical therapy assistant, Community College of Allegheny County; a bachelor’s degree, human movement, Lake Erie College, Ohio; a master’s of physical therapy, Duquesne University, Pittsburgh; and a doctorate in physical therapy, Gannon University, Erie, Pa.

Ms. Holden has worked with clients in skilled nursing centers and long-term care facilities. She is skilled in evaluating problems and developing treatment programs and has worked with patients who have orthopedic, neurologic and musculoskeletal conditions. She has extensive experience with a wide range of modalities and has
managed rehabilitative exercise programs. Much of Ms. Holden’s experience has been with older adults; she understands the mobility, flexibility, balance and pain challenges that this population faces and she enjoys developing innovative programs for this group.
